PROFESSIONAL SUCCESS PROGRAM

What is the PSP?
The CBA aims to connect members with valuable support from experienced retired directors. This program is open to everyone, not just new teachers, and ensures accessible support regardless of location. By doing so, we preserve and share the invaluable expertise of our retired directors.
Is this for all programs?
This program is designed for all teachers, not just new ones. Unlike traditional mentorships that often end after a few years, this initiative offers ongoing support to anyone who seeks it. It’s ideal for teachers who have changed jobs, are experiencing burnout, or simply want a fresh perspective on their programs. Whether preparing for travel, CBA regionals, a CMEA performance, or needing guidance with administration or booster organizations, mentors are available to help you elevate your work.
What can this do for you?
This program allows you to work directly with a retired director dedicated to supporting your growth. You can request specific assistance based on your needs, whether broad or targeted to a particular area of teaching. It provides a great opportunity to connect with experts who can bring their skills and insights directly into your classroom.
Compensation of Mentors
For in-town rehearsals, the rate is $75 per hour. For out-of-town rehearsals, the rate is $75 per hour, $200 for a half-day (up to 4 hours), or $350 for a full day, plus $0.40 per mile beyond 50 miles each way. CBA also offers a Professional Development Matching Funds Grant to help cover costs: CBA matches 75% of the fee, with $1500 available in matching funds on a first-come, first-served basis (one mentor request per director initially). Fill out the application form for consideration.
Who are our mentors?
Our mentors are retired directors eager to share their knowledge and experience with interested educators. They are committed to supporting the future of music education in Colorado through mentorship. The program includes a diverse range of teaching styles, grade levels, class types, and program demographics.
How do I apply?
To connect with a mentor, directors can see below to review mentor profiles, including their expertise and experience, and reach out to schedule a mutually convenient time. Directors may want to contact a few mentors to find the best fit, and CBA can assist with guidance if needed. Pre-payment is required before CBA finalizes the clinic, with a custom payment link set up by Dr. Cannava. Once payment is confirmed, both the director and mentor will be notified, and after the clinic is completed, Dr. Cannava will mail the mentor their payment.
